That Ali guy's scary. Who's good to match against him in the purple belt division? Is the Hiro guy still competing? I think he's the only Purple in the PH that Ali hasn't defeated yet. Hiro's international credentials seem to match well with Ali's. BRING IT ON!!!

"Hiro's international credentials seem to match well with Ali's." -- ARE YOU F*&%ING KIDDING ME?!!!

Hiro is small compared to Ali. Ali will just toy with him before eating him and spitting him out! Sheesh! Get real, people!

Have Ali Sulit and Guillam Huni ever rolled together? Guillame a Fil/French living in Serbia, but comes back to the Pinas a couple times a year. That would be an interesting match up as Guillame likes playing guard while Ali is a top game machine

Guillame and Coach Ali have rolled in our gym before already. Before when we were in Moro and again last December. Coach played guard.

"international credentials .." Lets not forget his certified referee status too. indeed, It clearly shines during his officiating.

i thought Ali also fought in HK, Japan, US Pan-Ams etc?

Hey Anonymous, to my knowledge Ali has not been able to compete in the Pan-ams but he has competed in the World Championships as a purple belt in the Adult division.

Thanks for the posts everyone, but it would be great if we could keep the negative comments to a minimum.

Unless of course you are not an Anonymous, in which case, say what you want to say

Thanks again!

Ali Sulit and Guillame would be a great match up. Really great. Hiro's the only purple belt Ali hasn't played against. Hiro's got international experience, Ali's not new to the international arena too.

Or for no-gi, Ali Sulit versus Stephen Kamphuis versus Marcus Valda versus TJ Tiu. 4 man tournament. WHO'S GONNA OUTLAST EVERYONE???

Anonymous said...

Who's gonna outlast everyone? The one with the most technical skill and best conditioning!

Anonymous said...

OK people, let's take a vote:
Heavyweights No-Gi Survival

Marcus Valda
TJ Tiu
Ali Sulit
Stephen Kamphuis

TAKE YOUR PICK.

First of all, who's willing to put it on the line? Problem with most competitors in the Phils., especially the senior ones, is that they're apprehensive in putting it on the line. I admire those athletes that aren't too concerned about winning or losing or about "their name." Competition is a chance for growth and improvement. Seniors who step up set a good example to everybody.

Also, stepping up is one thing. Going where the challenge is real or greater is another.

With those 4, it's clear that they're all accomplished in their own fields. Marcus, a 3x SEA Games Gold medalist in Wrestling. TJ Tiu undefeated in MMA. Ali in Judo and BJJ. Stephen Kamphuis world champion in the masters division. They all step up indeed.

It's curious if any of them will step up against each other.

I remeber seeing Ali at the Mundials last year. I think he won his first fight in Absolute?(not sure) But in weight I think that he drew Neiman Gracie in the first round (?). Neiman ended up getting third at those mundials. He has the skills and is one of the future gracies. Not many of us can say we competed agianst a Gracie, let alone at the Mundials!

Ali and Marcus fought already, twice. Big props to the both of them, those two meeting on the mats is a testament that they would ultimately want to bring the sport forward. Both are great competitors and I know they're friends on and off the mat as well. Regard to the other 2, I don't know if they''ve ever competed here in the local scene. I think TJ Tiu's abroad, when he gets back, it would be good to see him grapple. Stephen Kamphuis? I think it would be great if he could share the locals the rich lineage and technique he has to get where he is right now. In the end, it's for the promotion of the sport. Who cares who wins or loses? We want to bring the sport forward.

Alvin's in the brackets. Black belt, Light, representing Gracie Humaita. He has his name mispelled: Arthur Alvin Aguilar not Arthur Alvin Aguila
